Dodging and swerving through NFL security, professional cornerbacks like Jalen Ramsey and even her own television mother, 25-year-old Diana Flores was center stage as she literally ran her way through the two-minute Super Bowl commercial, and she did it with a Mexican flag over her chest.

The Mexico City native was given the starring role in the ad less than a year after she beat the U.S. in the finals and brought a championship to Mexico at the World Games along with MVP honors. Flores began playing flag football as an 8-year-old, and eventually made the International Mexican team at 16. Flores is now the captain and quarterback of the team and considered one of the best flag football players in the world.

The ad, titled “Run With It,” is a campaign sponsored by the NFL to help highlight flag football and women in the game. NFL’s chief marketing officer, Tim Ellis, told USAToday that “youth, women and Latinos” are key targets to help expand the game, and that plan appears to be working. Flores’ commercial, which has earned the second highest favorable rating among all other Super Bowl ads according to USAToday, has launched her into stardom. Flores next moves off the field might be as dynamic as they are on the field. She is now represented by SMAC Entertainement, which also represent superstars like Dion Sanders and Troy Aikman. Flores is also an ambassador before the International Olympic Committe. As Flores said on her Instagram after winning the championship for Mexico in 2022, “Mexico is gold. I am gold.”
